Do We Love God? (BW10)

John 14:23 _Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him."_

John 14:24 "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me."

Brethren, everything boils down to whether we keep the words of God. The words of God include His commandments, sayings, teachings, instructions, truth in the parables, etc. If we keep His words then we love Him but if we do not keep His words then we do not love Him. We decide whether we love Him or not. Church leaders can judge the spirituality of any Christian easily for He has given us His guideline. All those who love God will thirst after His words for they want to know and understand Him better. Daily, they will read the bible for hours because they love Him and want to understand His love letter (Bible) written to us. However if any Christian doesn't constantly and regularly read the Bible then, it is safe to say that he doesn't love God.

Brethren, the morning devotions from the various sources are good and they encourage us to draw closer to God. However, they cannot replace our time with Him nor the reading of the Bible. As a guide 10% of our time (tithe) or 2.4 hrs. must be set aside for the reading of His words, and this excludes prayers, ministries, etc. Brethren, if we really love Him then we want to spend all our time with Him. Strangely enough, many Christians can spend hours after hours making more money and yet cannot spend an hour reading His words and still they dare to claim that they love God.

John 8:31-32 "Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Our Lord knew that in this world only His truth can set us free from deceptions, addictions, worldliness, covetousness, etc. and it will also crucify our flesh. It is only when we keep (abide) in His words that we know truth. Unfortunately today Christian's excuses that they do not have the time to read the Bible but they have time in making more money, pleasures, watching TV, enjoying their iPhones, reading Christian books to their itching ears, etc. The truth is that Christians love money more than God.

Deu 30:15-18 "See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess."

The idolatry of last days' Christians is money (covetousness) - the result of heresies and wrong doctrines.

Col 3:5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Brethren, beware of these covetous pastors and leaders, "Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' "  (Mat 15:7-9)
