Gospel Of Salvation (BW15)
Eph 4:13-14 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
We must trust (faith) the gospel of Jesus to be saved.
Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; *it is the gift of God,
The truth in the gospel of Jesus
1. The Word was made flesh
1 John:4.2-3 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
We must believe that Jesus Christ was the Word made flesh, born of Virgin Mary.
2. Chastised for our peace
Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
He suffered for us so that He will be our peace with the Father.
3. He was our Lamb of God
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"
Jesus died on the the cross as our sacrificial lamb to become the propitiation of our sins.
4. He was crucified
Heb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
He tasted death on the cross so that we (His children) may not have to taste death.
5. He died (on the tree)
Gal 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"),
He became the curse on our behalf so that we are no longer under any curse
6. Jesus rose from the dead
Luke 9:22 saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day."
On the third day Jesus was raised from the dead. He then gives to every born again Christian the Holy Spirit as the seal of redemption.
7. Temple for the Holy Spirit
1 Cor 3:16-17 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
We are now the holy temple of God. If we keep His words, the Holy Spirit, who raised Jesus from the dead will be able to convict us of sin, guide us into all truth, crucify our flesh, lead us to holiness and transform us into His image.
1 Cor 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you -- unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
Brethren, we thank our Father for sending Jesus Christ to suffer and die for our sins, becoming our peace with God, and also gives us the Holy Spirit to convict, guide and lead us to holiness and perfection.
